Happy New Year

I wish all of my blog friends a peaceful, healthy and productive 2014.
May everything turn out just the way you hope.

I made this card on a picture by New Zealand photographer Grant Sheehan, who has just
published a book about this country's lighthouses.
I greatly covet this book, and I intend to use my Christmas book voucher (Mr A gives me one
every year, bless him)  to buy it just as soon as I can get to a bookshop.

The picture shows the Cape Campbell lighthouse illuminated by a full moon.

  1. There is something truly magical about lighthouses isn't there? And that is a stunning photo.
Thank you for being here this year - and a very happy, healthy and productive 2014 to you and yours.

  4. Happy new year to, you! And that's a neat card. How is the house illuminated by the moon? The camera angle positions one right behind the other?

    1. Thanks John! I assume the moon was right behind the beacon light, which would have already been lit. This lighthouse is several hundred yards in from the beach, and stands on a small hill. I love the effect on the clouds. You can see it here: http://www.maritimenz.govt.nz/Commercial/Shipping-safety/Aids-to-navigation/Lighthouses-of-NZ/Cape-campbell-lighthouse.asp

    2. According to Sheehan's notes, it was taken 3 hours after sunset.
