On the Water... TP 247

Thematic Photographic 247 !!  I've missed a few, I think.

On the water - my favourite place.

Last term holidays I was in Melbourne, one of my favourite cities.

The Yarra River runs through the central city

It was autumn, hence the grey skies. Not too cold though.
I never seem to have much luck at St Kilda, the famous beachside suburb - for me, the skies are always grey and lowering:

Swan number 36

And a re-post of a late afternoon sky at Seacliff, Adelaide, on the same trip -

  1. Oh my. On or by the water is one of my most favourite places as well. The light there - on bright or on overcast days has a magic I don't feel anywhere else.
I love your swan, and your final image is stunning. Thank you.

    1. Yes, I love the sometimes surprising effects that cloudy skies can create in a photo!

  3. That swan is superb even if its neck appears constricted.

    1. There were lots of them, Bob, and each one had a number band around its neck. I couldn't find out why.

  4. Beautiful pictures, even with the grey skies. Maybe even because of them. I love the two with the city in the background.

    1. In some parts of New Zealand they have become pests, Gilly - they have to be culled every few years, which makes me sad.
