Wet, wet, wet

After months of drought, water restrictions, farmers complaining (rightly)
about lack of pasture for stock, we have had rain.

More rain in the last three days that we have had for a year.

Heavy, heavy rain, complete with thunder, lightning, power cuts and in
some parts of the region, tornadoes.

Today it finally dawned sunny, with blue skies and mild (for midwinter) temperatures.
I decided to go for a short walk, just to get some fresh air and exercise.
Even took a photo of some bright berries.

Then what happened?
Rain, complete with wet clothes and total bedragglement.

Ah well, at least the farmers will be happy.

  1. If the farmers are happy they are different to ours. If it isn't too little, it is too much is a rule it seems.
That said I am glad that you have had rain - and some sunshine to follow.
    Sigh on the bedragglement.
Did you take both dogs with you on the wet walk?

    1. No, the vet says Louie is not allowed to go for walks until he's had his 3 vaccinations against parvovirus, which is apparently in our district. He has only had one so far! So I left Manu dogsitting him :)

I agree about the farmers - they are saying that the rain's good but it's now too late for any grass to grow until the spring.

    2. How long before the vaccinations are complete? And parvo is a nasty, nasty one. Much better safe than sorry.

    3. Yes, I agree. It will be about 6 weeks! Before then I might sneak him out very carefully and carry him, so that Manu can have a walk... Mr A is a totally non-animal person, sadly - although Sammy has managed to convert him, but only as far as she's concerned.

    4. Cats are clever like that. The smaller portion came from a family of cat haters. Successive cats have educated him and he is now much more indulgent to their every whim than I am. I suspect that carring a wriggly excited puppy might have challenges of its own. Good luck.

    1. Thanks John - I did have my usual (old) walking clothes on, but my walking shoes are still sodden. At least I got out of the house!
