Dreaming of summer: TP 298

Carmi (he's back!) has chosen 'Summer' for our photographic theme this week.

On this side of the world it's raining wintry rain, the shortest day has just gone, and I'm dreaming of sunny days, beaches, and holidays.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing,
the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.

  1. These take me back, Alexia. Back when I was a kid, playing in the tidal pools, chasing minnows, etc.

    1. I loved the family fishing on the edge of the estuary. There were 3 generations - grandma was teaching the kids how to hold the rod etc. Perfect.

  3. Ideal summer locations for children and for me.
If my lawn mower is broken there are always other jobs!

    1. You're right of course. A garden means equal measure of hard work and enjoyment!

  5. Oh, that lake is very lovely. :)
However, we are just on the verge of beginning our hot days here. I now face 2 months of not being able to sleep at night and hiding in the basement during the day. Ugh. I'm jealous of your rain! (But I'm not jealous of the fact that you're teaching this month! Yea! I'm on summer break!)

    1. Poor Lisa! I suspect most people prefer dry heat to the humid kind. We have another week of school then 2 weeks of winter holidays. I am more than ready for a break.

  6. Amen to the lawnmower being broken. Although I've gone with xeriscaping, so I don't have any lawn anymore. Beautiful pictures at the water! We've just passed the longest day of the summer, it's 11 AM and already over 80F (27C), but the humidity is about 25% so at least for me, it feels great.

    1. You wouldn't have much in common with my son-in-law: one of his favourite things to do is mow the lawns. He's been known to turn up at the houses of various friends and family to ask if he can please mow the lawn for them!!!

  7. Just beautiful. This morning a wind is coming straight from the snow. And, when it is light, I am sure I will see that snow. Despite preferring winter - I do love your beach scenes. Thank you.

  8. No thanks, Badger. I like our kind of summers better than the ones you'll get in Indiana!

  9. What a fantastic beach! You live in such a beautiful place! Maybe I should visit all my relatives out there before it gets too late!!
