TP 210: ///////

Thematic Photographic is running along parallel lines this week over at Carmi's - see more there.

I've got parallels, some natural, some unnatural natural, and some man-made. Hope you like them.

Glowering skies over a line of trees, somewhere near Dunedin:

Arrowtown:

Are you sure they don't meet at the horizon?

In the grounds of Larnach Castle:

Dunedin railway station:

A quick flit over the ditch*; treetop walkway near Melbourne:

And what you're walking over:

Back to New Zealand. Art gallery ceiling:

and for the bird-lovers amongst us, some cranes:

Can't wait for some fine, warm weather so I can get out and take some photos!!!

* the ditch = New Zealand/Australian slang for the Tasman Sea, which divides the two countries

    2. Lol the 'walk' is all over the place. Have put up a blog on the 'new bit' http://clunychemin.blogspot.co.nz/ and am going to add to an old blog for the bits I 'returned' to. And a few bits of 'non'walking' have been added to my Nomad blog!

  2. Truly brilliant. I can see and almost plot the horror movie which would open with your first photograph (which is not to say that I didn't love it, I did but it struck me as entirely appropriate for the horror genre).

    1. Thank you, EC. Yes - there is a nice eerie atmosphere in that shot, isn't there? I love dark moody skies!

  4. Holy cow, do you get around! I love them all - you always capture such a great range of scenes to ponder - but I have to admit the art gallery ceiling speaks to me. Funny that the building designed to house art is, in fact, a work of art itself.

    1. That's exactly right - it is an artefact in itself. I love the colours and the forms of that ceiling :)

  5. I thought of posting a shot of a parquet floor but it could never match that art gallery ceiling. I might have to 'crane' my neck to look up at that.

    1. I love parquet floors, Bob - but this really is a magnificent piece of building/art.

  6. WOW! Wonderful collection of shots featuring parallelism. Each is great in a different way. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. The train station takes me back to when I was five and my little brother and I made a trip by train alone. The walkway would scare me, my fear of heights would never allow me to walk over it.

  7. wow Alexia!! what an assortemnt!!
i think we can say it's a little dizzying...with all the parallels this week! ha! parallel overload!

my favorites are the very first shot...and the railway...and the gorgeous art gallery ceiling!!

OH, and let's not forget the CRANES!! but where are their feathers?? OH i get it...they are the skeletal remains of humongous prehistoric cranes!!

    loving all your parallels! =)

  8. I just have to add one thing: You have castles. How cool is that!

    1. To tell you the truth, it's more of a "folly" than a true castle. But it IS very cool.

  9. Awesome pictures, I really like the first one, with the row of trees set off by the telephone pole.
