Muted

The theme this week is an understandable choice for Carmi at Written Inc. I've been feeling rather muted myself, as I mark the 3rd anniversary of the death of someone I loved greatly. It doesn't get any easier.

For this motif I have picked some peaceful, quiet shots - they fit my idea of 'muted'.

Late afternoon, winter, school playing fields

Lighthouse, Cape Egmont, New Zealand

Winter morning, Whangaroa

Lake Taupo, New Zealand

Evening light, Lake Rotorua

  1. I am sorry for your loss. I find that grief bites sharply for a very long time.

However, I loved your gentle slightly melancholy photos. I think it was the lighthouse I loved most, but the winter morning at Whangaroa and the evening light at Lake Rotorua came very close.

  2. Oh wow.
That tree on the rocky little beach.
    Fabulous shot. Just awesome.

And I certainly wish I could be there in the peace and quiet, away from crowds and traffic.

  4. This is a lovely sense of muted place for me as well. Thanks Alexia. This time of year I too find grief knocking at my door, and you are so right just when you believe perhaps this year, all that pain and sorrow slip right through our cracks...it seems Dec. and Jan. months have taken so many of my loved ones...your precious quote is one of hope....I've written it down to reread, again and again.....Whangaroa, is stunning!

  6. The shadow in the late afternoon make that firt shot, but it's Whangaroa that really nails the muted theme.

  9. Alexia, your photos show so much about both your grief and your love for the one you have lost. I find it interesting that I have been to quite a few of the same places, and I think I have taken photos from similar angles. We have a few things in common I think.
