Classic

This Thematic Photographic theme sent me wandering off for pics of things which the word classic suggested. But no cars; I'll leave them to Max :)
Wikipedia says: "The word classic means something that is a perfect example of a particular style, something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality. It denotes a particular quality in art, architecture, literature and other cultural artifacts."

Classic beauty

Classic book

Classic children's book

Classic movie

I could have gone on along that track for some time: instead, I thought I might find some photos of classic architecture from my own albums. Here are some buildings I have visited, all different, all classic:

La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

Erechtheion, Acropolis, Athens

St Peter's, Rome

Duomo, Milan

Topkapi Palace, Istanbul

Mausoleum of Ataturk, Ankara
Hope you enjoyed my classic offerings. For more, go here.

  1. I did indeed enjoy your classical offerings. Particularly the architecture. I sadly fear that not only will few of our buildings be standing in a few hundred years but that also few of them will be missed.

  2. I loved Winnie the Pooh as a kid, still do. Great set of books. And you have an awesome set of buildings there too.

  3. Great ideas, Alexia! Love the classical beauty - such a long, swan-like neck!

And dear old Winnie-the-Pooh. I was brought up on those. Ah, memories!

  4. Alexia, all these are absoultely perfect...but as you posted Audrey as your first choice, she is mine too...she was such a wonderful dear and warm hearted woman, besides being an excellent actress, and starring in nearly every movie roll as a classic to date! Marvelous classic presentation....and I think Max is going to do something besides what we all expect him to do...I hope he's posted already....haven't seen it yet....! Have a great week.....!

  9. yes, I've already been here, but I just posted my TP and thought I just had to get a dreamy view of your classics again....I recently met all the Winnie the Poo friends live at Disney Land....they are some of my best favorites! then there's toad and frog and Alice and the Mad Hatter who also live care free and run wild at Disney Land! We do live in a great age don't we?!

  13. Thanks all, for dropping by, and for your much-appreciated comments!

Dear old Tigger, Poo and Eeyore were great favourites for me and my kids, and I hope will be for my grandkids too when they are old enough.

And Audrey Hepburn - yes, the epitome of elegance and natural beauty.

EC - I agree with your comment about newer buildings; although I have seen some beautiful modern buildings, they just don't have the warmth of these old ones.

Laura - not even your worst enemy (if you had one) could ever call you unobservant!!
