My first thought was to look in the albums of the overseas trips I've taken in the last few years. But then I decided to stay here in New Zealand, and chose some pics from a road trip a few years ago. These were taken on the shore of Lake Rotorua, in the central North Island, as the late afternoon light deepened into dusk...

Sometimes the best vacation is staying at home. My back yard is hard to beat!
ReplyDeleteat the moment my back yard is sodden with winter rain.... still, I know what you mean! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a peaceful spot to take in. Sometimes you see so much more by really looking at what's around you daily.
ReplyDeleteBeing by the water, any water is like a vacation for me...and on the water...even better...these paddle boats are fun too...we have them in the city on the lakes and it's really quite a vacation taking time to just enjoy the day not too far from home! Excellent choice I so love seeing photos from around where you call home! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, I'll say it again; I love your water pictures. The only real beaches we have here are on The Great Salt Lake, and that's not very good for relaxing and swimming. Too salty (I think 3 or 4 times as salty as the ocean) and way too many brine flies. Not a place to spend a leisurely afternoon. So, again, thanks for the pictures.

ReplyDeleteOh what a line ! Thanks for sharing ! This is simply awesome !
Increases my desire to travel and visit far off places as well ! :)
I love that part of the country. It's only 2 hours' drive from my home and a handy stopping-place on the way back from further afield.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate everyone's comments :)
I would love it if you would sometime post a generic version of your school schedule. You seem to have school breaks that surprise me, so I'm curious about how things are done in your corner of the world.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Galen. It's fun to get out of town, but there are times when I'm home, a peace envelops me like a warm blanket in winter.
