Daily Photo #2

From our house we can see the cyclists heading along the Cycle Trail which runs from our town through a river gorge to the next small town, about 25 kilometres away, and from there branches out to other trails which lead further afield. It is usually called the 'rail trail' hereabouts, because it starts at the old railway station and follows the track for a kilometre or so, before keeping to one side of the river the rest of the way. It is an "easy" trail as New Zealand bike trails go, and is much used, especially in the warmer months.

Today I walked along it for a while and took a few photos. Strictly speaking, dogs are not allowed, even on a leash, but Manu came too.

We haven't had much rain lately...

  1. Is there any rain in your forecast? The flora looks verdant as it is.

  2. Amazingly, we do have some rain forecast for the next few days, John. Whether any will eventuate is another matter. Many of the trees along the river are old and very large, creating a cool, shady zone. But look at how little water there is in the river!
