Winter Walks

Our winter officially begins on June 1st, not on the shortest day. We had some really wintry weather in May, cold enough to make the town's deciduous trees put on a proper show.

I try to get out for a walk every day if I can - Manu gets grumpy if he doesn't get his walk (and so do I).

Here's some shots from a few days ago - a walk at the beach:

Looking south. The beach is just the way
I like it - deserted!

And yesterday we had a lovely walk along the river bank:

  1. Just glorious. I would love to walk with you and Manu. Our winter also starts on the first - but I do think changing the seasons at the equinox makes more sense.

    1. We would love your company! The river shot is misleading. It was lovely but there was a great deal of damage along the track from the weather we've had lately - slips, a sink-hole or two, and many trees down. We got into a dreadfully muddy patch and I had to put my shoes in the washing machine when I got home...

  2. I think I would prefer your winter walks to ours! Max loves to go out walking but in the winter he doesn't relish putting on booties and a doggy coat! It's like going out with a toddler, takes forever to dress them and us! Enjoy your winter walks!

    1. Thanks Michèle! Manu has a smart new jacket this year, but I have only put it on him once so far.

  3. Well our winter may wane here finally and give way to spring/summer. I like deserted beaches also, for a walk.

    1. It wasn't actually as deserted as the photo makes it seem, Strayer - the beach is 9 km (5½ miles) long, so there are always parts which are sparsely populated, even at the height of summer.
