Sunday Snapshots

How's spring coming along?
I've just been for a wander around the garden, to see what's interesting...

apple blossom

cedrela sinensis (Chinese Toon)

??

choisya ternata

an exploded seed pod (it was about the size of my hand)

arum lilies - not a flower I like very much...

clematis - this will be covered in a few days

I tried and tried to get a photo of a tui in the kowhai tree,
but none of the ones I took was worth posting.
I'll have a zoom lens for Christmas, please.

Here's one I found online:

  1. Happy spring to you! Fall is starting here. Leaves are changing, days are shorter, mornings are nippy. I like the idea that we are balancing each other. That's a gorgeous bird, by the way.

  2. And happy fall to you, Galen! I know some of my blog friends have had a very hot summer - hope yours wasn't too unbearable.

  3. I took a few photos of clematis on the fence today as well- and mine is covered quite well already. I also tried to get tui shots today, unsuccessfully. Down at the Esplanade they were singing up a shindig in the sunshine.

    1. We have huge kowhai trees at school which are full of tui at the moment, eating and chasing each other around. We get wood pigeons in them sometimes as well.

  4. That arum lily is called 'Green Goddess'. I quite like it and some of the coloured ones but associate the white ones with funerals. That tui is a spectacular bird. Gorgeous vibrant colours.

    1. Yes I feel the same way about the white ones, and the feeling spills over onto other colours I'm afraid.

Funny, I just took a picture of a Clematis on an iron fence, but it didn't turn out.

    1. Yes it is - it's some kind of native iris. Those leaves don't belong to it.

  8. It is such a wondrous thing to see spring arriving while on the other side of the world we are slowly falling into autumn.
A beautiful collections of spring images, love the bird amongst those brightly coloured leaves.
    To a wonderful spring,
