Flying into Summer

December 1st - officially our first day of summer.
The dog and I went to a beach to look for birds to post on Carmi's Fly theme,
but the tide was full and there were no waders around...

There were some high fliers overhead

Of course, we still managed to enjoy our walk greatly.
It was a beautiful, still morning

Driving away I spotted this blue heron, but when he took off
he was lost into the trees before I could manage a decent shot...

breathings of the tide"

  1. I have never succeeded in catching a heron in flight. Flighing birds always seem difficult to get a good close up.

  4. What a lovely beach walk. I adore your shot of the flying birds in formation. I have rarely seen it here and never when I have had my camera to hand. Thank you. And why do we celebrate the change of seasons on the first of the relevant month instead of at the solstice? Though it has certainly been summer temperatures here this week. Sadly.

    1. My daughter and her family are feeling scorched in Adelaide!
I had seen a huge flock fly across whilst driving to the beach and couldn't believe my luck when another, smaller group came over. Mind you, they're not great shots...

  5. abulous shots...sometimes I just have to sit and stare at photos like these...because often I feel so homesick for a view of the ocean! :)

    Thank you for sharing.

I look at your favourite books and movies on your "profile"...and I could be looking at my own!

    1. Thank you Lee. I have fairly eclectic tastes in music, movies, books - as do you, I see!

    2. I see I dropped off the "F" in "Fabulous". That happened because I'd written my comment; and then I "copied" while I read your movie and book "likes"....and when I "pasted" my comment...off flew the "F"!!! :)

  6. I'll pretend that I'm not absolutely jealous of the weather. It's sooo cold here.

That blue heron looks so majestic.

    1. Thanks Magaly! it's not overly hot yet - around 23 today (what's that, about 74 Fahrenheit?) - but I love warm weather.
